I’m very excited to introduce our first market business to take part in our new feature ~ ‘to market to market’.

Lets meet Casey from Creative Markets in Queensland.

Tell us about your market:

Creative Markets is a handmade market located at Springwood in Queensland, just 15 minutes south of Brisbane City. We trade from 9am to 1pm on the last Sunday of the month, with yummy food vendors, live entertainment, lots of activities for children like face painting, jumping castle, plaster painting and baby farm animals and  65+ handmade stalls.

 What inspired you to start your market?

I was once a stall holder attending different markets around the Brisbane area & I also helped out a friend for a couple of months with her market and then decided after seeing both sides of a market to start my own market in my community. So then Creative Markets was created and I haven’t looked back.

What is the most satisfying part of what you do?

The most satisfying parts would be giving stay at home parents an opportunity to sell their crafts, and I love hearing all the wonderful comments by customers and stall holders regarding Creative Markets.

Where and when can we find your market?

You can find Creative Markets at Springwood Central State School Qld and we trade on the last Sunday of the month 9am to 1pm

How are Babushka Moo Markets looking after our stall holders?

Babushka Moo Markets will be happily supporting parents that work from home, that are crafty, talented and have great business ideas and that need a little assistance with exposure. We love supporting Australian small home businesses and will create a wonderful and fun filled day with unique products for your children. The stall holders have been carefully selected by Maria and Effie. They have made it a priority to not book too many stalls with similar products so it’s fair on the stall holder.

Mission

Babushka Moo Markets have a mission for our first market in December with 33 booked stalls in tow, jumping castles, face painting, balloonists, sausage sizzle and many other yummy treats. Their mission is to raise $4,000 for the Ronald McDonald House in Monash (Melbourne) to support their wonderful cause and assist with refurnishing their bedroom decor. Approximately 15 families per night use this facility and Babushka Moo Markets will be happily supporting them by raising money on this day. Babushka Moo Markets have received many generous vouchers and products from wonderful organisations which will be either raffled or auctioned off on the day. All monies raised from these and entry gold coin donations will be going back into the house.

About the Organisers:

These two busy women not only crafty, creative and love unique products but have passion with what they are organising in December. They have been stalls holders at many marvellous markets throughout Melbourne but they always wanted to see more from these organistions. Their motto is, “Believe in your goal then you shall succeed. Don’t follow your dreams, chase them.”  They want their stall holders to have fantastic exposure, advertsing and feedback. This is why they are taking so much time in listening to what each businesses are requesting. . “ If it wasn’t for our wonderful stall holders then this event could not be possible. We believe in each and every business and their products and that is why they have been selected for our market, so we need them to believe in us also to assist with taking their businesses to the next level.” All our combined efforts in advertising and organising hopefully we can deliver an awesome crowd on the day to benefit them, the charity and the name of our business which we have worked so hard for.

This is a new direction for the previously branded ‘Handmade Craft Pop Up Market’ and has come about as a result of feedback from customers, traders and the retail centres who wanted to trade with them. Their new logo and branding allows Handmade and Boutique Events to market their events to a broader spectrum of customers and attract a wider variety of stallholders.

Handmade and Boutique Events main focus will always be on handmade, as that is their passion. They have run the Handmade Craft Market as a quarterly event on the Central Coast, NSW for 2 years now. The purpose for this event is to support our handmade community and work from home parents. They started the Pop Up markets as a way for this same community to trade in a retail environment without the overheads or the need to have to worry about high cost insurance.

Handmade and Boutique Events would love you to come along to one of there new events and we would like to offer you the opportunity to apply to trade at the following events. 20th-23rd September – Westfield Tuggerah, Wyong Road, Tuggerah. Our regular monthly market held in Centre Court from Thursday to Sunday.

6th-7th October – Erina Fair, Terrigal Drive, Erina. We have been invited to join in the Family Week celebrations with Erina Fair. Very limited spaces left available.

18th-21st October – Westpoint Blacktown, Patrick Street, Blacktown. We will be trading the four days, Thursday to Sunday, on Level 2 between Nadia’s Cafe and Myer.

Please note, our previous brand, Handmade Craft Market, is not going anywhere. This event will still be run in Terrigal on the Central Coast, NSW and will remain as an event organised by Handmade & Boutique Events.

ABOUT THE ORGANISER Melissa Garland is a crafter herself. After many years working in the fast paced finance, insurance and marketing industries in Sydney she moved to the Central Coast to have a family, and it was then she discovered the unique experience crafting can bring to your life. As a mother of two she feels it is important to be home for Jarrod (6) and Rebecca (3), but knows a balance is needed. So has recently completed studying a Diploma of Event Management and has taken on the role of building the Handmade and Boutique Events business, which enables her to build her own Event Management business from her home office. The markets are something she feels passionate about and will continue to uphold the highest quality and integrity, whilst growing the markets to become all they can be. Melissa also feels strongly about supporting the local area that has made a welcome home for her and her family. Being surrounded by such inspiring people, Melissa has now taken up sewing for the first time and is enjoying creating for her family.

As most of their stallholders don’t have a shop front, you are guaranteed to find something truly special and also being able to meet the makers and designers of these amazing pieces makes it more worthwhile .
