Grown up dinner parties

Mum

With all the craziness, hectic and busy things happening that is simply “life”, sometimes it is hard to remember to fit in the important stuff – slowing down, catching up with friends, finding ‘yourself’. For me, I think it is important to remember what life was like before you became a parent … and so that’s what we did Saturday night. A fabulous and fun dress up party with friends!

“Dinner party” makes it sound like I put on a four course gourmet feast – but with our group of friends we think that if everyone makes one meal (ie. entree, dinner or desserts) then the person hosting isn’t completely frazzled and worn out – we all have kids and realise that making one thing is doable and so that way, we catch up a bit more often too.

I have now moved into my lovely new home and this is the first ‘dinner party’ I have had here so I was SO thrilled to off load my child at about 4 pm on Saturday afternoon, pack away all the toys and bring out the pretty, breakable stuff that I normally have shut away!

The dress was “elegant sophistication” so there was some op shop taffeta, a satin dressing gown and my chappy even put on a tie, with shorts and thongs. “Dressing Up” to a theme is always taken tongue in cheek in our group!

I was super duper excited to show off to my friends my fabulous Tlighthaus(c) lanterns from M2Matiz.  Mariana from M2Matiz is a frighteningly talented artist and photographer and all of her images and goodies are simply divine.

So here is a selection of photos from my grown up dinner party table graciously decorated with the assistance of M2Matiz.

The Tlighthaus(c)’s are so gorgeous. You simply put a tealight candle into a jar (baby food jar works a treat) and then place the tlighthaus(c) over the top and the lighting is just beautiful!

I even placed a carnation in a old bottle to place on the table as well. I had real issue with using carnations as I don’t really like them – but I think they looked cute nonetheless!

In fact, the table setting looked the best out of all of us on Saturday night, especially by the end of the night when a few reds, whites and ports had been consumed!

I know my friends are quite competitive so we will keep you updated with the next awesome table setting!

Please check out M2Matiz and be awed by Mariana’s lovely goodies and her gorgeous nature! Her customer service is fabulous and her talent is just amazing!
