Introducing: A collaboration between Missy Melly, C Percy Designs and Appleberry Kids

Accessorize/ Featured/ Hand Made Blog/ Trends/ Wear

Once upon a time, two little girls set out to visit their Grandma whom lived on the other side of the woods.

They hoped that they didnt come across a big bad wolf on their travels.

Unfortunately they did come across a wolf, but he wasnt scary or bad.  He was friendly and led them safely through the woods to Grandmas house.

Shan from Missy Melly and Amanda from Appleberry Kids want to tell us a story with their winter collaboration range this season with the classic story of Little Red Riding Hood, or should we say pink riding hood.

The winter story covers different colour palettes and textures, ranging from rich purple shades, to bright classic reds, pinks with ginghams and dots, and finishing the story with cool shades of arctic greys, whites and pinks.

Winter is completely covered within this collection. Missy Melly shows us their gorgeous coats, capes, dresses, skirts, tops, pants, socks, tights and boots. And a little girls ˜outfit isnt complete without a stunning co-ordinating bag from Appleberry Kids.  This story also features beautiful handmade woollen crochet hats, beanies and scarfs from C Percy Designs.

A gorgeous winter collection that covers everyones tastes and will definitely capture every girls sense of fun and imagination.

Customise Your Facebook Business Page

Articles/ Featured/ Guest Post/ Social media/ Tips & Tools

Chances are that if you have a Facebook page for your business you have already noticed it looks quite different now that the ‘timeline’ design has kicked in.

Love it or hate it it’s here to stay.

There are great opportunities to really showcase and re-enforce your brand by choosing some striking images for your cover photo and customising your tabs.

Cover photos should be 851x315px and 100kbs or less. Choose something that describes your brand and compliments your logo, but make sure you abide by the Facebook cover photo rules listed here.

Another little known customisation option is Custom Tabs for apps.

If you are handy with a photo editing program like Photoshop or even a simple online version like pixlr (pixlr.com), you can create your own buttons that tie in with the whole look of your page or brand.

The buttons should be 111x74px, no bigger than 5MB (smaller is best).

Here is how to change your tab image:

  1. Open your Page’s admin panel
  2. From the Manage  menu, select Edit Page
  3. Select Apps from the left sidebar
  4. Click Edit Settings under the name of the app whose icon you want to change
  5. Click Change next to Custom Tab Image
  6. On the next screen, click Change next to the existing image
  7. Follow the instructions that appear for uploading a new image or deleting the existing image

If you want to reposition the order of your app buttons:

  1. Expand the views and apps menu by clicking on the down arrow the to the right of your Page’s views and apps
  2. Hover over the position you’d like to put a view or app and click the pencil icon that appears
  3. Choose the view or app you’d like to swap into that spot from the menu

I hope this has inspired you to get creative and pretty up your business page. Remember, first impressions count.

If you want to check out the My Poppet Facebook page and it’s customisations you will find us here

I am always in awe of those that can crochet. I have tried many, many times and fail miserably every time. I’m not sure what it is, the coordination or the fact that maybe I give up too soon. What ever it is it really doesn’t matter when there is talent around like that of Marie’s from Madwest Designs.

Marie, a dressmaker by trade and self taught (with a little help from her Dad) crochet hooker has been designing and crocheting for over 30 years. A self confessed perfectionist will happily hook well into the night and early morning, to get your order just right, “perfect” in her words.

With scarves, mary janes, beanies, brooches and more you are sure to find one of Marie’s designs that will tickle your fancy.

Madwest Designs is taking part in the 1st Knitters & Crocheters Market on Facebook from the 12th -15th May, there are some OOAK items Marie has in the market for sale. You can also find Madwest Designs for sale not only online but they are also available at Viewpoint Handmade Gallery in Bendigo.

I also hear that classes are on the cards for the not too distant future, there may actually be hope for me yet.

To see all Marie’s fabulous designs head to the Madwest Designs online store, Facebook page or blog.
