We were lucky enough recently to view the stunning new collection from Little Rose. The collection features a lot of stunning colour, which I think always makes winter much brighter.
Red has been combined with orange & light pink and grey with fuchsia & red. As the collection has been inspired by ‘The Sound of Music’ it needed leather hose! The leather hose have changed shape in the form of a bright bubble skirt to make them much more girly. They are still combined in the traditional way with a blouse, but then with a little bit of little rose colour.
The skirts in this winter collection are all twirly and the dresses take you back to the Austrian Alps. There is a little pink t-shirt with a Tiroler girl applique and the little vest, inspired by the traditional Austrian costumes, comes in pink and does combine ever so lovely with the high waisted twirly grey skirt.
Of course they needed the popular ruffled-back-legging back for the little ones! And the fully lined pants from a few winters past have made a comeback too for the little girls who still like to look girly in pink, but just seem to get caught under their dresses with their knees when crawling.

If I had a dollar for every time someone commented to me œ I wish I was as creative as you¦ I would have retired long ago to the south of France. The truth is I am probably no more creative that you or that other person over there, my secret is that Ive worked out what Im good at and embraced it.
I am good with colour, and textiles and textures and matching things together in not obvious ways. I am good at thinking about how a practical object can be made more aesthetically pleasing without overcomplicating its design. They are the things I am good at.
Ask me to write a short story or essay an I am likely to fall apart in sheer panic, and after procrastinating for ever and a day, Ill produce something barely engaging. Ask me to put some make up on and Ill end up looking like a clown with panda eyes, Im not good at that at all.
So before you get all down and beat yourself up about your lack of creativity, take a step back and think about where you use your creativity everyday in different ways. Can you create a meal out of nothing? Get someone to do what you really want, but make them think it was their idea all along?
Raise super fantastic kids? Or play a song by ear? Throw an incredible outfit together from op-shop finds? Or even make a dreary work day feel like fun?
These are all super creative skills that Id love to have¦we are all creative, just in different ways. May be its time you embraced your own special creativity!
Have a read about some of my creative processes on my blogs My Poppet and MADE OF CLOTH where I have written lots of easy project tutorials to kick start your own creativity.
No long now till those little fluffy bunnies hop about the place with their super sweet baskets delivering eggs. Actually my toddler asked me the other day why bunnies lay eggs and give them to him – think though the explanation of why they don’t and what they do instead might be a story for another day.
Tell us a little about how your business came to life.
I am almost finished studying for my degree at university but in the meantime while I am at home with my two children full time I decided to dust of the sewing machine and start wild things of noosa in 2007. My study can be quite overwhelming at times and my business is my creative outlet. I started sewing softies and taking them to market, that’s where the ‘wild things’ in my business name came from.
Can you remember your first sale? What was it? How did you feel?
The first time I took my softies to market I did sell a few and I was quite proud of myself. I started to make girls and boys bloomers shortly after starting at the markets in 2007 and they were a huge hit. I don’t make my gorgeous little softies anymore but its fun to look back at the photos of them.
Is there an interesting anecdote behind your business name?
My husband actually thought of my business name. One of our favourite books is ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ by Maurice Sendak, this book was first published in 1963. My husband had a copy when he was a child and our son was given a copy when he was born.
Where does most of your creating take place? Show us … if you want.
I have a room in my house stacked high with fabrics, boxes, bits and pieces. The old TV keeps me company while up late at night sewing, there’s usually a coffee cup on the window sill and a jar of lollies to keep things fun!
What is your favourite item that you make? Show and tell!
My latest item that I am a wee bit excited over is my Ballerina Bloomers. They have over a 5m length of tulle with a pink and white ruffle on the top. A pretty little satin bow in the middle makes them too adorable and sweet. Sizes 00 – 2 yrs.
What is your most favourite handcrafted item you have brought?
I have bought so many handmade goodies over the years shopping on Madeit, Etsy and at all the markets I’ve attended… to pick a favourite I would have to say the two vintage skirts I purchased at the Peregian Beach markets that were made from vintage curtains. One has a green bamboo print on it and I can just see the curtains hanging in someone’s lounge room with matching carpet!
What handcrafty thing couldn’t you live without?
I would say my dining table, hand made from the timber off fishing boats in Indonesia, it has the old colours of green and yellow paint still on it. I say the dining table because it brings family and friends together, we share food and a tipple, we share laughs and conversation, play board games and debate the meaning of life. I couldn’t live without that.
