I give up

Accessorize/ Mum/ Uncategorized

It is official, I raise my hands and concede defeat these school holidays.

I am just going to lock myself in my bathroom, lay fetal on the cold tiles and just cry until it is all over.

I don’t know whether it is an age they are at, the heat, the fact I am a  year old and less tolerable, or that my New Years resolution of not eating so much and drinking so much wine has really lowered my tolerance levels.

My night of catching up on posts and paperwork has now disintegrated into a night of wall washing and floor mopping.  Why?  Because thinking they were just playing cars in the passage way happily was actually them throwing apples in the passage way happily.

Sigh, is if February yet?

Imagination in Flight Apple – pity they didn’t throw this one around.

Wine Charms from Chick Girl Designs– probably redundant cause I am going to drink all the wine no matter who’s glass it is in.

Dish Cloths from Easy123 – I need something nice to clean those walls with

Some calming lavender soap from Beguile is probably in order to help the stress levels

Too hot for summer!

Accessorize/ Wear

I don’t know about where you live, but here in Northern WA, it has been a hot hot hot summer already and we probably still have the worst to come – eeek.

It has meant the wading pool has been firmly placed on our lawn and we have all been having a dip to get outside.   My kiddies are outside kids, so a day of being inside in the aircon, tends to make everyone a little insane, so we have to head out for a chance to run about and scream and let off a bit.

Now truth be told, I am not a fan of outside in the heat, even if it is in a cool pool, so I am rather naughty.  I put the wading pool up to the sliding door, pop some water and the kids in, then I shut the sliding door and sit in front of the aircon watching them.

Perfect, I am nice and cool, the door blocks out most of the noise and I can supervise them in a lovely environment, as opposed to either sitting in the pool being splashed, our outside in the warmth being eaten by flies.   I am an ideas woman!

New Year, New Changes

Uncategorized

This is the post I have been reluctant to write for ages, but I cannot put off any longer.

I have made the decision to offer Handmade Kids the chance to have a new owner.  Yes HMK is for sale.

Eeek, even writing those words publicly gives me heart palpitations.  I have grown Handmade Kids over the past couple of years from scratch, from a tiny blog I thought no one would read, to what it is today.   The decision has not been easy by any means, as it is my other baby, and it has taken me months to reach this point.

Over the past year I have lead a life I don’t particularly like.   My catch phrase to my children is always “hang on a minute, just let me finish this” whilst I am madly typing.   My children, my partner, my family, my friends and myself, always seem to come last.  So the past few months have been about re-assessing my life, do I really want another year the same as last year?  Will my relationships survive, will I survive?

After chatting with Caz, she also feels the same way.  With a busy toddler, working part time and both of us having our close friend very sick, it is time to slow down and smell the roses.   With our lovely friend Sandy requiring a transplant and having to move to the City, it has made me realise, that every week I say, I am going to cook some meals and drop over to her. I have not made it yet.  I always have an excuse, I am busy, I am tired, I haven’t cooked for my own kids – the list goes on.  Next year I want to be able to head to the big smoke at the drop of a hat, just to spend time with her, without worrying about how I am going to do that.

There has been no real culmination of things that have made this decision aside from  personal life changes.  It is time to dedicate to other tasks and projects, whether they be family, or they be something new.

So if you have an interest in handcrafted items, love supporting and helping new stores, love writing, then you may just be interested in owning Handmade Kids.

The business would ideally suit someone who is passionate about Australian handcrafting, has writing skills, has blog/wordpress knowledge and who has the time to commit to the blog to grow and nurture it further into the years.  The blog requires a daily commitment of writing, answering queries, researching and more.

We are really committed to making sure that the blog goes to someone who is dedicated and can grow it more.  So we are not heading anywhere soon, and are on board to make sure this happens.  As so much time and passion has been put into HMK to get it to this stage, it is really important to us that the right person takes over.

If this sounds like you, and you would like to own the fabulous Handmade Kids, then feel free to drop us a line to enquire more.   Genuine enquiries only please.  jemma@handmadekids.com.au
