Introducing: koo-ki-nuts

Featured/ Play

koo-ki-nuts was conceived in early 2010 with a single owl softie, designed and sewn by Erin Johnston in Albury NSW. Since then the koo-ki-nuts brand has evolved to include lots of different products, such as handmade badges, bookmarks, greeting cards, wheat packs, and rattles.

Many of these products have been created in response to people’s requests, while others have come about in a more serendipitous manner. For example, the super-cute koo-ki-nuts soft toy rattles (loved by babies, toddlers & their parents) were a happy accident.

Late last year Erin had some of her designs printed onto cotton with the intent of making them into kids wheat packs, however when the fabric arrived she realised her measurements were very wrong… and the prints were miniature! Voila – the koo-ki-nuts rattle was created.

Erin’s goal is to one day give up her government day job and instead ‘koo-ki-nut’ from a sunlit studio with her best friend, bringing lots more idea’s to life. In the meantime she will continue to create in her spare time, and seek a fair trade and ethical manufacturer for her rattles. Watch this space…
